Having finished a credible 4th in the summer competition that ended before the start of holidays, there was an opportunity to play some more matches once the new school year had started.
On Sunday 27th August, Ajax U13 entertained HCC2 U13 at the Kikkerpolder. During the competition match, Ajax (109 for 6) had won against HCC2 (86 all out) by 23 runs. So it promised to be a nice competitive match. And so it proved. Ajax batting first scored 100 for 4 – with Patryk Yadava scoring 26 not out and Jan Mol retired on 13. HCC managed 80 for 7 in their 20 overs, with a great bowling performance from Sarah Bal who took 3 wickets for loss of only 6 runs in 3 overs. Final result – Ajax wins with 20 runs.
to play against their U13. In the competition, Ajax (80 for 1) had won by 7 wickets against Qui Vive (76 for 3). A 10 by 10 match with a debut in the U13 for Davi Shah, who had been playing for the U9 team all season. Ajax lost the toss and were asked to bat. On a small pitch with a very wet outfield, it took a while to get going. Qui Vive bowlers – who had not played for a number of weeks – started out rather inconsistently and bowled many wides. With runs from the bat proving to be a challenge, Patryk Yadava took charge and started to time the ball better and four 4s and 2 6s, ended up retired at the maximun allowed runs of 40. Daniel Sevenster chipped in with a credible 12. Final score for Ajax was 123 for 3 – with 52 runs coming from wides and no-ballls. Debutant Davi Shah faced a couple of overs and remained not out with a score of 1…his first in such a match.
Runs proved even harder for Qui Vive to find with especially tight bowling from Patryk Yadava and Justin Spoor. In fact with one or two exceptions the bowling on Ajax side was much better in terms of discipline, the fielding was very good and in the end Qui Vive were all out for 70 runs with the first ball of the last over. Exceptional bowling performances from Patryk (2 wickets for 7 runs in 3 overs) and – especially – Davi Shah (2 wickets for 5 runs in 2.1 overs). Daniel Sevenster also took 2 wickets for the loss of only 5 runs, including 2 wickets in succession thanks to great catches by Jan Mol and Noah Shah. Also 2 runs outs including a very smart piece of fielding by Sarah Bal. End result – Ajax wins by 53 runs.
A lovely, sunny day with gezellig tegenstanders and a nice end to the cricket season for the U13 team!
